Good question. And did you notice that the landing was at an airport other
than Uvalde? Was the unsafe operation during launch? Was it due to a
report by another pilot?

Does anyone know why LBL got such a large "administrative penalty" ? It
seems as if there were a lot of penalties in this contest i.e. unsafe
operation etc...

Read Tom Kelley's #771 Reporting Uvalde post above. Looks like he not only
flew into the restricted airspace, he took photos of the blimp as well!
Maybe it was reconnaissance that he once flew for the Belgian airforce that
made him do it? Old habits are hard to break. He would have placed 3rd in
overall points if not for the penalty BTW.

I "earned" my 25 point penalty for "unsafe operation" by going below
50 ft through the finish gate, the same goes for RED. Even though my
trace shows no hits below 50 ft., it was called on me visually and the
truth of the matter is that I almost assuredly did go below 50 feet
although not by much and I had an appropriate amount of energy that
allowed me to fly a safe pattern with a wide margin of safety. The CD
had reminded us that the rules call for a 50 ft. minimum through the
gate and so I must take my lumps. I was a little unhappy that the the
penalty was presented as the result of "unsafe operation." Lesson
learned.
