There are reducer plates available so you could use a 57mm instrument in
an 80mm hole.Â* Check this out:

This could double your options.

I have a hardly used LX-1600 which would work well in a club environment.

Will work as a stand-alone vario or as a full nav.-system with a PDA. Will throw on of them in as well. Let me know if interested.

I have an old Peter Masak vario that fits in an 80mm hole. Let me know if you are interested. Worked fine when I pulled it out of the panel a few years ago.

There are lots of L-Nav's out there that provide excellent climb-cruse vario+ audio and speed to fly (and more), that can be had for 1/3 the price of a new audio vario. I have a near-new one that I will box and ship for $200.

Jon, the L-Nav is generally two boxes. The 80 mm control with LCD display (audio is in this part), and an either 57 or 80 mm traditional variometer needle display. You can certainly use just the 80 mm control and display box, as the audio is built in to this. It becomes a bit more useful if you also have room for the traditional variometer needle display.

Are you just wanting a stand alone audio variometer? Just sounds, no needle display or anything similar? That is what you asked about but it seems to me all offers have been for more than this.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the clarification. I am interested in the L-Nav units, but only have one slot in the panel and don't want to futz with some kind of add-on for two units. By audio vario, I meant the basic needle-plus-sound club type vario from the 1980's. The glider is a 1977 SZD-45 Ogar and I wanted to kind of keep the panel looking original or at least period - I can add iPad/PDA/Kobos for navigation and task management on a removable bracket.

Regards,
Jon

I have an Ilec SB7 vario I am willing to sell for $250.00 plus actual shipping costs via USPS Priority Mail. It is 80 MM with audio. Also has a removable speed ring that can be configured for any polar along with an averager and battery voltage indicator. The response time can be set for 1 or 3 seconds. Used it this past year and it works fine.

If you are interested, please respond using the email function here.

Regards,

Mike
