All:

Yes the SSA is taking back the magazine which was transferred to
Gillian in 2003. It was originally started by the SSA.

The ExComm discussion on the subject was held in Mid September. That
was the first most of us knew that Gillian was retiring.

As of now, there is no editor. Discussions are ongoing with several
individuals. Gillian will be a tough act to follow. I doubt most
businesses could find a good hire in a very short time.

Your patience, a commodity in short supply amongst us glider pilots,
is appreciated. Once I know more, I'll post.

Feel free to email me.

Regards,

Chip Fitzpatrick
Region 2 Director
Vice-Chair
SSA

I guess patience is like circling in sink.

Looking at the 'death of glidingmagazine' thread, volunteers
stepped forward in a matter of hours. Perhaps the
Excomm should publicize its search efforts ?

Hopefully Gillian's list of all the contributors she
has encouraged over the years has not been lost. With
them and even a temporary editor the mag could be continued
rather than allowed simply to disappear.

Hi all,

Just to clarify...

1. Sailplane & Gliding (S&G):
printed gliding magazine
worldwide circulation
edited by Gillian Bryce-Smith until 1998

2. www.glidingmagazine.com
online gliding magazine
worldwide circulation
edited by Gillian until Sept 30, 2004

S&G continues as normal.
Or as normal as I ever get ;-)

I do hope that the many readers of the online gliding magazine (and
followers of S&G for years) have recognised Gillian's sterling contribution
to the worldwide soaring movement over many years - do not let her
retirement pass without a word from you...

Why be normal?

S&G remains excellent.
