View Full Version : Robert Mudd has stolen items
mat Redsell

Robert Mudd took two aluminum panels from our workshop to build a trailer
for his apis. In return me promised to replace those with two 12 foot
sections of similar material. I reluctantly agreed to this trade but Robert
has never given us those panels. I reminded him just before he left for New
Mexico ( even offere to help him load) but he did not leave us those panels.
Those panels are very important for laying up such things as Dtubes.
I would like Robert to replace those items he took as soon as possible.
Could anyone please forward to us his Physical address.
I could trade a set of pipestral wings for the panels if he is interested.

Wrong place for such a discussion and a poor choice
of a title.

Robert has not replied to any of my requests to settle this matter so I have
little choice but to try other means to get his attention..
Yes it is a poor choice of a title but it grabs ones attention and I hope
Robert will respond before I set up a web page on Robert Mudd.

I have read Mat's posts on this and other newsgroups/email-lists for several
years now. His abrupt approach and lack of tact tend to override every fact
that he is attempting to convey. The impressions resulting from his lack of
diplomacy, and in some cases civility, reflect negatively on both him and
Marske's company which he represents.
Respectfully,

When I think of all the positive comments on this discussion group and then
read Matt Redsells posting about Robert, I am just blown away by Matt. Who
in the hell do you think you are??
Last month it was your soaring clubs board of directors, this month it's
Robert...your solution seems consistently to be to attack a person using
this venue and then to continue your threat by "setting up a web page" on
someone...I'll tell you this Matt... If you think in your mind that this is
an acceptable use of a discussion group that's primary focus is to promote
soaring and the pursuit thereof, then I for one disagree.
You are involved in a commercial operation and have many venues within your
right to pursue. Legal remedies in addition to simple private remedies. I am
sorry if I sound exceedingly harsh, but you sound like a whiney
teenager...you really should have more respect for this discussion venue and
learn to keep a civil tone, instead of defaming a person in a public
forum...it's called "dirty laundry" You should learn to handle yourself
better...When you spoke last month of being threatened to be dropped from
your club by it's B.O.D. I thought that was harsh, but now I think there
might be much more to that story as well...
Grow up.

Can anyhone else suggest a better way to attract Roberts attention and
remedy this situation?
Yes it is abrupt and lacks tact but is there a better way to approach Robert
Mudd at this point?
I have sent him Emails and even tried to phone him with no reply..,, I am
really open to suggestions but I do really feel ripped off and am quite
upset about it.

Taking a private matter public is never a good strategy, I think. I
agree with Wayne in that it makes YOU look bad. If you're that upset,
hire a lawyer. But, please, leave ras out of a private dispute.

This is weird, Mat. His address is on his web site
(www.apisgliders.com). You didn't need to ask RAS to discover this. I
hope you rethink this approach because it's DOA: this approach is high
risk for you because (right or wrongly), your reputation won't trump
Robert's. You should resolve this directly with Robert or through an
intermediary that both of you respect.

Apparently things are really slow around the shop these days.
Then again, perhaps alienating everybody else coould be fun, too?

Duh, call a lawyer! After your potentially libelous post, you may need
to call one anyway.

Mat,
Several thoghts come to mind reading this whole string.
First, I think you would want to get out your dictionary and look up the
words "slander" and "libel". Carefully considering the definition of those
two words might save you both grief and "face".
It's my opinion that the only reputation you are tarnishing here is your
own. That's not a personal attack but an observation.
Look at the tone and content of the responses you are receiving here and
consider if you think they are accomplishing what you intend. This is, for
the most part, a congenial and intelligent group of people who exchange
opinions and information for the benefit of all.
I'll bet too, that there are two sides to this story if anyone but you
really cares.
Cheers! Have a happy day, keep dreaming of that 80:1 flying wing.

Yes, my first choice would have been to call a lawyer, then as the
case was settled, hopefully IN court, a link to the published record
placed in the groups, repeatedly.
One that does not respond to requests to set the situation straight,
to live up to his word, cannot be libeled. Theft is theft, whether it
is by pistol or by broken promise makes no difference.
Matt, I have found that in the long run, the best way is to just
replace the item yourself, and resolve that the person that conned you
never takes anything from you again, without cash in hand. I have
several people that come to me for repair work, and know that unless
they have cash, not check, they will not leave with the parts in hand.
The worst part is knowing that the parts are for hign buck toys, and
those people have no excuse of poverty.

This is the same nutcase who ragged on his club's directors because he wanted
to wear a chute and fly with students not wearing one. Oh... or is it the same
guy who makes inept commercial claims about his silly flying wings. Or is it
the same guy who's so far out of the mainstream he can't even find the stream.
Guaranteed there is another side to this story and this is yet another
affectation of Mat's socially impaired existance.

Welcome to the law minute with Mitch Hudson, on this show, I, as an
inexperienced lawyer, attempt to answer questions mailed to me. Our
first letter comes from young Davy Radanovich from Kokomo, Indiana.
Davy writes "Dear Mitch, I would like to know what the difference
between slander and liable, could you help me?"
My response:
"What kind of pea brained moron would ask such a stupid question? If
I were you, Davy, I would worry more about inbreeding than I would
about the law"…
Davy, that was liable. If I would have said it out loud, it would
have been slander.
Thank you for reading another episode of the law minute, please tune
in next week for more law questions posted here on RAS by your
favorite inexperienced armchair lawyer

Dear Mitch,
Kindly refer to your nearby dictionary and note the difference between
"liable" and "libel". No doubt, you (I mean Davy Radanovich) meant the
latter. But then, I'm not a lawyer and neither do I play one on TV. Next
case, please :-).

Dear Mitch or Davy, it appears you left the word "is" out of the question
about the difference between liable (sic) and slander. Or perhaps, like one
notorious lawyer, you were not sure of what the definition of "is" is.

Mat,
Seems that people have been telling you this for years. When are you
going to wake up?
I once let a friend of mine borrow some money. He avoided me like the
plague and never paid me back and I have had no coNtact with him
Since. I tried to collect, but after many attempts, I gave up. Lookig
back it was the best money I ever gave away because the SOB never
bothered me again.
I do have some solutions for you.
1. get a lawyer AND move back to Canada (for those of you who didn't
know, Mat's Candadian. I said "didn't know" and NOT "didn't care").
2. You can drive to New MexIco aNd Steal your items back.
Mat, the above descriptions are synonomous of your reputation. The
easist thing to change here is YOU.
