The wheel on our Cobra trailer is no longer in "as new" condition. It's
about 8.5" diameter and has about a 3/4" shaft. Has anyone sourced a
replacement in the U.S. that they can recommend?

Thanks,

Mark

I got one from Knauff and Grove. I think they still sell Cobra parts.
M&H is another source. Both have given me prompt attention and quick
turnaround.

On the west coast, Rex and Noelle Mayes at Williams Soaring Center
have provided good service.

Hi Mark
When the dolly wheel on my Cobra had to be replaced I went to a wheel
and caster shop in San Franicago and got one that fit, same bore size
and outside diameter. Hello Yellow Pages

Check your local hardware store.

Main criteria are outside diameter and width (so it will fit) and
load-bearing capacity, though it's highly likely that anything that
sort of looks like the original wheel will be fine. The newer trailers
have these really neat looking pneumatic tires but mine (1992) was just
solid rubber.

I used a hardware store bolt as the new axle. I think it was slightly
smaller than the original. If it had been larger, I would have drilled
out the mounting arms.

We're not talking about high-strength, heat-treated steel machined to a
few thousands running in high-speed tapered roller bearings, or the
ability to run true with no vibration at 75 mph. Max speed is in feet
per minute unless the wheel drops to the road while the trailer is
under tow...in which case you have a different kind of problem. And
will need a new wheel, anyway. :)
