Hello, Sailplane Racers!

I wanted to send a card to the entire soaring world expressing my
appreciation for the last ten years in the air now that I no longer had a
glider.

Well, dadnabbit, those crazy yunguns are sure pokin' about these days.

N69QT sure doesn't look like any glider I'VE ever seen. Yet
some goodfernuthin, tomfoolerin, cantankerin DAR certified the
funny lookin' thing as an ab-experimental GLIDER!

Everybody knows gliders don't have colorful wings and
open cockpits and ENGINES, for cripe'sake. They are WHITE,
with T-TAILS and have ONE MAIN WHEEL and ENCLOSED CANOPY and
40:1 or better glide ratio.

Stupid DAR. Who cares about span to weight ratio and that kind
of crap. That thing isn't a goddang glider, it's an ULTRALIGHT
plain and simple. I don't give a goose crap about no
"Sport Pilot" transition assfiddle option, either.

If you guys let this guy fly this ungainly noismaker with his
baggy-pants wearing, hip-hop listening, TIVO playing,
disposable income gangstas here at MY gliderport, I'm gonna
go back to my retirement home and do my bitching and farting
there...

$4000, for a self-launch glider? Don't these idiots know
real gliders cost $100,000 or more? Coppygoosefeathers...

Hi John,

I've really enjoyed your PEZ cartoons over the years and will miss them.
The one that sticks out the most in my mind was the one that showed how
every pilot's meeting includes a brief statement by the previous day's
winner stating word for word exactly the same thing every day - basically
nothing. That is so true! Funny. Don't get me wrong - I enjoy hearing the
daily pilots "how I won the day" summaries, but the cartoon was funny and
insightful.

There's no such thing as "former." You'll always be zerocinco. Come

- Yes I must say I really enjoyed Pez stories, so since you've
convinced some of us to replace purposeless cezznazz with gliders dont
leave us now. Especially not for cezzna...

Thanks for the great entertainment John!

I mean that. Your Pez series came out during my very first days of
soaring -- and guess what, I was 42 years young at the time. I don't know
why you're leaving the sport but I hope you have half as much fun in your
next endeavor as I'm having in this new one.

I never knew you John but that is a great parting shot. I left 10 years
ago and, as you described, I felt like one of the younger guys at 40!
Had one of the better tans too.

Anyway, I don't know the 3rd wave at all. I CD'd a fun fly with Moffat
once. I beat Karl and everyone else on one glorious National's day - in
his own back yard. Seen things and done things, as you so aptly
described, that only a self selected few ever will.

The memories are great and still surface daily, but no regrets. May
you have none either. (well, few regrets anyway).

Ultimate performance will always be ultimately seductive I fear - and
significant money will always be required. Professional marketing would
go a long way to increasing popularity but the absence of meaningful
commercial interest in the US may keep the sport in a dark corner in a
place far, far away. That was always fine with me... 45 of the finest
people I've ever known and 35 or so of their mates made for the finest
company I can ever think of. UM, there are some exceptions.

If that Cessna you depicted is what you bought - have fun and bring a
drain pan. It is a little hard to go a 172 after you've flown the finest.

Hope to meet you sometime at the 'port.

That oil dribblin' airplane beast looks suspiciously like a Cessan 195.
Is it possible you've given up sitting behind no engine to sit behind
a round engine?

If so, it is a noble quest. (I've got the bug myself).
