View Full Version : Colibri Ipaq problem!

March 2nd 05, 12:43 AM
I just installed a colibri and IpAQ system.
I'm running a ipaq 5550 w/ SeeYou Mobile
The colibri "knows" where it is(shows correct long/lat and altitude)
but when I turn the ipaq on, the colibri beeps and the lcd says "19200
connect "

At the same time SeeYou says "no GPS Data"
However "Connect Me" recognizes colibri

Has anyone had this problem?
How do you fix it?

Thanks

If connectme is running in the background, then Seeyou
won't be able to use the serial port, quit connectme.

I quit connectme which stoped the beeping and now the lcd gives the gps
status of 3d and 6 satalites.

SeeYou mobile still says "no Gps Data"

any other suggestions.

Thanks

Do a soft reset of the ipaq. Push in the small hole on the bottom of
the iPaq with the stylus. This should reset everything.

If you use both pieces of software, you need to make sure you exit one
before you use the other.

In the colibri setup menu, there is a section about NMEA data. Check
this section to assure that there are several strings with a "Y" next
to them. If not, enable the the first three options by moving the N to
the Y.

Adjust the Baud rate from 19,200 to a lower setting , some units only
respond at 4800 .

Thanks that did it!

what are the disadvantages of the lower baud rate setting if any?

Thanks

If the unit cannot understand the data at the faster rate, it just can't
read it. Just like if someone is talking too fast, you can't understand the
words.

I had a similar problem with my Palm. Im my case was a matter of speed.
Instead of 19200, try 9600 or 4800.

I can't understand why, but the fact is it works well like this.

I'm not sure but suspect that file transfer could take longer in this
case. (but maybe it will use another setting for pc connection).
