This presentation was given at the March meeting (via web conference) of the Chicagoland Glider Council (http://chicagolandglidercouncil.com).

This presentation talks about the basics of what ELTs, PLBs, and Personal GPS Trackers and how they might benefit you. Comparison of the various devices by specifications and by pricing. Examples of live contest tracking and sailplane locator functionality at SSA.org.

Let me know of any updates needed.

Thanks, John (OHM Ω)

Which is of course "Fudd's First Law of Opposition" which was enunciated by the renowned Sir Sidney Fudd.

Remind me please ... what was Fudd's second law?

(You have to wonder how confusing this dialog must be to the unwashed masses).

As long as you're within cell tower range, there's a number of live tracking apps and websites. There's also gizmos if you want to buy more hardware.

For one example I run Oudie Live on my phone which relays Oudie position data to Livetrack24.

If I can't fire up my PLB, the tracking data will let SAR know where to start looking.

There is also Teslacle's Deviant to Fudd's First Law. To wit; "It comes in, it must go out."

Do these important treatises belong in my presentation? ;-)

Absolutely, along with an explanation from another thread where you suggest that low balls can raise tail.

Well, that was a new low for this thread. And it was pretty low to begin with!
