You could try Mile High Gliding in Boulder, CO. You could fly a 300K with
an instructor in a Duo Discus and then rent a Genesis II for the badge
flight on the same route. May and June usually have great XC weather.

Hi,

Can anybody recomend a good soaring facility in the US that does XC
instruction and XC rentals? My goal is to plan a week long soaring
vacation and hopefully finish my Gold (have alt and duration).

Recomendations?

Thanks,
Paul K.

If you are doing this out west...besides the usual
suspects of Minden, Moriarty, Caracole, etc.....let
me suggest one other possibilty.

Guenther Jacobs runs a very low key and top notch operation
at Parowan. He has done a 500k with the Blanik L13
there, and has single place plastic ships for rent.
Consider giving him a shout.

Sundance Aviation in Moriarty, New Mexico would be an excellent
destination. Very helpful & friendly staff that are highly experienced
in glider flight & instruction. They have several glass ships to choose
from and there are dozens of 500K & 1000K flights originating from
Moriarty every summer.
New Mexico is also a beautiful state with a very diverse population &
culture- lots of nice scenery, art & a large native american population.
