Can anybody suggest a suitable solvent for removing the adhesive.
So far i`ve used Acetone and it`s only 50% successful.

3M Adhesive remover, it works like magic

Pretty good luck with Goo Gone also.

I can second that! After the adhesive is dissolved, an oily residue is typically left, which I wash off with denatured alcohol.

And the citrus smell is nicer, too. Then I celebrate with a fully natured alcohol.

Hmmm, that's some serious tape. Might even work for taping the passenger outside as a Covid workaround.

3M makes a powerful adhesive remover, but the more useful the solvent, the more likely to eat the thing you use it on.
Definitely wax-be-gone and questionable for gelcoat friendly.

The GooGone MSDS says mostly Distillates (petroleum), hydrotreated light with a nice citrus scent.

For removing duct tape adhesive, more duct tape seems to work well.
Don't know if more gaffer's tape works for Gaffers tape?

I use "NU Finish". Great for bugs, adhesive, hard water, but it won't take an oil stain out of leather.

Very sparingly I've used PPG Acryli-clean DX330 (gelcoat and PU) on only the worst residue. NOT for general residue removal. DX330 will remove any goo immediately, but be very careful using this product as it may ruin your finish. It's available through any good automotive parts store.

I finally plumped for Goo Gone which worked a treat.
