View Full Version : Camping at Yellowstone
We have been invited by friends to a camping trip at Yellowstone park
this summer. The camp ground is at Bridge Bay in Yellowstone national
park.
I am based in El Monte, Los Angeles basin. Which airport should I use
for the less driving time to camp ground. Thanks.

Are you sure Cody is closer and more convenient than West Yellowstone?

It isn't. KWYS is closer, cheaper fuel (a couple cents), rental cars
available...

In terms of how long it will take to drive from the airport it's no
contest. Cody is far closer.

I've done this several times (i.e. fly-in to visit folks camping in
the park). If you're planning on camping, here's what I do. Fly in
to WYS and set up in their excellent camping facilities (pilots only,
quiet, no motorhomes, nice shower, etc...). It's light years ahead of
those crowded, aluminum slums they call campgrounds inside the park.
Then use the rental car to drive in and hang out with your friends all
day. When you see what passes for a campground inside the park,
you'll be glad you're at the airport.
Here's some info about camping at WYS :
