View Full Version : Has anyone gotten a response from Centrair on Pegasus parts?

I have sent to Emails to Centrair to get pricing info on the parts needed
for the AD's. I received one message that described the cost for the hinge
pins and rivets.
I haven't heard anything else from them about wiring money over there to
purchase the parts. Does anyone have their wiring information . . . (bank
number and account number) or have heard from them at all?

I also need to find out what the cost of the new rudder pedels are so they
can be replaced as well.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Mike: What did they quote on the hinge pins? (Rivets? What rivets?)

Last time I ordered parts from Centrair, I used an international money
order and mailed it. The most-recent wire transfer info I have is
2001-vintage and, thus, it may no longer be reliable:

CREDIT AGRICOLE CENTRE QUEST
Acct. No. 33042378531
Bank codes 19506 - 40000 Key Code 25
IBAN number FR76 1950 6400 0033 0423 7853 125, SWIFT: AGRIFRPP895

No info here yet. Anyone else?

Folks, US credit cards work just fine in Europe. Just ask them to charge
the parts to your MasterCard. That worked for me with Shempp-Hirth.

If you hear any price on the rudder pedels please let me know. As far as I
know Centrair won't take a credit card.

By the way the rivets are used as retainers for the hinge pins so they won't
slide out of the hinge. They are drilled out to remove the hinge pins for
both the ailerons and elevator. Guess you will need them to replace the
drilled out ones.

I haven't pulled the bird out of the trailer yet this spring and can't
recall the number of hinges for both ailerons and the elevator for a
total pin count.

Anyone?

Thanks,

So where does the FAA come up with "Parts cost" of $1 for the hinge pins, if
Centrair is charging 7 euros for one pin?

I believe that they pulled that number out of a hat!!!!! Even before
Centrair came up with the pricing for the parts. Maybe the parts are made
of "Unobtainium"!!! That would elevate the price . . .

By the way has anyone considered finding out what the "heat treated
material" is for the hinge pins and replicated them here in the states?
Also does anyone have a drawing of the "Reinforced rudder pedel's? Is the
reinforcement something that we could have an A/P weld onto the existing
rudder pedel's to comply with the AD?

Just curious . . . Just in case we can't get parts quickly from Centrair.
I don't want to miss out on this season . . . 2R

I have a set of rudder pedals for a Centrair Marianne , issued as a
replacement against the AD. Mine had been reinforced in this way before
the pedals were issued. I believe they may be the same as those in The
Pegase. An AD was also issued for these. The mod looks like nothing
more than a flat piece of 4130, diamond shaped and welded as a gusset
where the vertical rudder pedal tube normally butt welds to the
horizntal hinge tube.

Cheers

Hi all,

I just got another message from Centrair on the price of the rudder pedals.

They are 127.31 euro's each. That price was for the part number specified
in the AD. I don't know if rudder cable is supplied with the pedals.
They are in stock according to the memo.

That's it for now

Cheers,

Has anyone priced shipping (and import duties?) on these parts?

Centrair is putting together a package to ship to me . . . As soon as I
find out what the shipping costs are I will pass them on.

There should be no import duty, just as there is no duty on the glider when
imported to the US.

Hopefully they have experience and will label said shipment and customs
declaration accordingly.

Someone pointed out in an earlier thread that the French AD requiring
hinge pin replacement apparently applies only to to those ships within
a limited range of serial numbers (in the 600s, if I recall correctly)
and to those in which original equipment pins have been replaced at
some point with other than P/N SY991A pins. If that is correct, has
anyone followed up with Greg Davison (in the FAA's Kansas City office)
to determine whether AD2005-08-06 applies to US-registered ships which
do not NOT fall in either of those two categories?

Well I don't know if there are problems or not. The last message I received
from them indicated that they were packaging up the materials to take it to
the postal department for shipping costs and they would get back to me. It
has been two weeks now and I haven't heard anything. I am beginning to
wonder if they have the parts in stock or if they need to manufacture them.
At any rate I don't think the AD's will be completed til after the soaring
season here. So I am going to fly the airplane to the 25 hour limit after
June per the AD and then wait.

This is very frustrating. . .

Strange. All my dealings with Centrair have been prompt and well
documented. I guess I wouldn't hesitate to send another query. You
might want to try faxing a letter; sometimes they're quicker to respond
that way.

No responses to my question re the hinge pin AD. Guess nobody's
followed up with Greg Davison (the FAA's staff engineer on this AD) for
clarification.
