I'm working on a little aluminum airplane that has some surface
corrosion just under the paint in a couple places.

What do you guys use as a treatment to stop the aluminum corrosion? I
remember 30 years ago using phsophoric acid then a zinc chromate
converstion treatment. Is this still the best technique to stop the
corrosion?

I need to just abate the current corrosion from expanding. What do
you guys recommend?

Etch and alodine is still the best way.
Use a 3-M 7447 Scotch Brite pad to help remove the corrosion.
A good epoxy primer followed by topcoat and you should have the problem
solved.
