Truck vs Car as a tow vehicle

My 98 GMC Suburban SLT (Special Luxury Touring) equipped with the factory tow package has been a solid tow vehicle, even when towing my LAK12 trailer. Lot's of room for tools and parts, can be slept in if needed.

SLTs are known affectionately as SLuTs, because they will tow anything.

98 Toyota Land Cruiser. Incredibly reliable, large amount of cargo space, substantial weight which assist in towing, all time 4 wheel drive that can be shifted into locked 4 wheel drive, great visibility, and most important at the glider port or a contest, the split tail gait. Perfect place to sit and eat lunch while waiting for launch. Also a great work bench.

I was gonna ask about that. Is that sorta like the Toyota TuRD truck?

Depends on the rear axle location . A Nissan Navara with a leaf sprung
rear end was terrible as the truck drivers on the autobahn will witness.
A diesel mondeo I have has towed up to a ASh30 or Nimbus 4 no
problems (Trans Europe 30k miles in the last 6 years).

In europe trucks do not have the construction regulation breaks
compared with cars that you have in the US and thus are comparatively
expensive.
