Hi,
Is Europa Aircraft still around? Their website is gone and I had heard
there were financial problems. Just curious.

Other than being ugly, it seemed like a decent airplane. Unfortunately,
if one can fly a sleek looking plane that performs as well as the ugly
one, most folks will pick the nice looking one.

Such as what?

The europa is likely the best selling kit of all times in europe.
The company did not fail due to unpopularity, or ugliness, of the plane.
You are entitled to your opinion, but pronouncing it as fact will not win
you any points here.

Lancair, Glasair, Pulsar, RV, etc., depending on your mission.

Pretty much everything stated on usenet is opinion. What caused you to
believe otherwise?

Nice defense, you will get points for that one.
The europa is still not ugly though :)

It is to me, especially the curve of the lower part of the windshield.
It makes the airplane look bulbous rather than sleek. Look at a Falco
to see a nice looking airplane!

Oh sure, pull out the Falco.
I suppose you could compare my wife to Penelope Cruz, but I wouldn't let her
hear about it if I were you.

Well, I can't speak regarding your wife, but since I called the Europa
ugly, I thought I should provide a reference as to what I consider to be
not ugly!

The Europa is not gone.
The old company went bust owing customers parts and creditors a hill of
cash. See the Europa builders club links below for information on the new UK
company that has taken over production

I think you should have a price/performance/fueleconomy comparison. Besides,
I did not see the Europa as ugly at all.

Glad to hear that Europa is still around in some form. Will they market
the kits in North America or just concentrate on Europe?

As ever the surest way to make a small fortune in aviation is to start with a
large one.
Nice plane, versatile. If you thought it ungainly you should look at the Scheibe
MotorFalkes it competes against in it's long wings guise.
