Does anyone have any comments .. good or bad about the HKS-700E engine ?

In particular are there any operators in the group who could tell about
their experiences ...

# hours
problems or failures
performance of the engine
factory/distributor support
quality of the engine and documentation etc
cooling
etc

No experience, but a question. Are these the same people, HKS, that
make turbos for rice burners?

From what I hear, their turbos are very well received. People are
happy with their turbos for cars and bikes. They are a ligitimate
company in that respect. They are probably good with their aircraft
engine too.Probably just as good as Rotax, Cayuna and the rest.

As a non-pilot techy guy, I hardly feel qualified to reply, but at
least one source is Olenik Aviation http://www.buyitsellitfixit.com/
further, http://www.buyitsellitfixit.com/hks_700-e.htm

His interest is mostly in ultralights, but his numbers make this one
look good for someone who needs an engine in the 60HP range. I don't
know from what it is derived, but they advertise a TBO of 800 hours,
not unlike what some auto conversions seem to like.

At the least, further informstion should be available there.
