Paul Poberezny Retakes Presidency of EAA
Fri, 01 Apr '05
04.01.05 Special Edition: EAA Founder Paul Poberezny surprised the
aviation world with the announcement that he has retaken the
Presidency of EAA.
Leaving retirement, the Senior Poberezny cited "the renewed need for
basic grassroots support to see the Sport Pilot program through to a
proper conclusion, the experience I have with the true rank and file
of sport aviation, and the fact that I am bored out of my skull with
retirement," for the reason that he sought and claimed the Presidency
once again.
Flanked by troops comprised of some of the more militant members of
the Antique/Classic division and a smattering of warbird flyers,
Poberezny set upon EAA HQ shortly before the opening of business,
changed the locks, and let selected staff members through after
signing a loyalty pledge promising allegiance to the Association's
founder. Over the course of the day, a majority of staffers jumped
ship (minus a number of the marketing folks) and pledged their loyalty
to Paul, as well... leaving EAA running a "little leaner and a lot
less meaner" than before, according to Paul.
Former President Tom Poberezny was nowhere to be seen. Repeated
questions were met with silence until one unnamed spokesperson noted
that, "Tommy's been sent to his room..."
EAA Spokesman Dick Knapinski said the power transfer happened,
"...swiftly and with surprisingly little bloodshed." Knapinski also
noted that the Senior Poberezny is making big plans for a "new EAA"
that includes lower admission prices for the annual Oshkosh airshow, a
renewed emphasis on cost-effective and affordable aviation, and strong
support for the Sport Pilot initiative regardless of who gets the
credit for it, or who profits from it.
Poberezny, in a short interview with ANN added that, "Aviation is
taking some hard knocks from the government, an unfriendly media, and
a world that has lost much of its fascination with flight. We're going
to get back to basics, we're going to support the grassroots of
aviation, and we'll grow slowly from there. If aviation can rediscover
its roots, maybe we can get the rest of the world interested, again,
in aviation."

What are you getting at? With ole Zoomer writing it, and after all the
beef he's had with SNF, I don't know if this is truthful or some wierd
type of propaganda. The EAA website says nothing about it. And I have
seen nothing written anywhere else about this either. So I begin to
wonder. hmm..

I realize that it's hard to tell fact from fiction on ANN but in this case
it's an Aporil Fools joke. It's almost as funny as the time zoom said he landed

April fools, that one went right over my head. It was such great
sounding news, I wanted to believe it. In this case, it would have
been so nice if what he wrote had actually happened. At least he sees
some of the same problems at EAA as others do.

Hey John
Here's another one from the zoomer except it's not April fools day LOL!!
This is reprinted from todays ANN edition. Let's see if we can find the
difference between perception and reality and play the "who's zooming who game"
!! I'll start, here's what zoom wrote:
"testing incredible new aircraft that had never flown before in any form,
Chuck ...I think he's zooming us ....
Announcer.... buuuut maybe Chucks wrong so who's telling the truth? Chuck or
zoom?
Announcer.....OK contestants make your pick. (Sound of ticking clock )
Announcer.....Ahh the results are in!! 99 out of 100 contestants picked
Chuck as the one telling the truth.Only one ,a guy named jaun
said zoom wasn't zooming anyone.
So if zoom can prove what he said was true jaun will win an all expense paid
trip to PR.
It's now up to zoom ...OK zoom what company did you perform test flying for?
What were the names of the planes? and dates of the tests? All those answers
should be in your logs.. (Sound of ticking clock) OK zoom are you ready? ah zoom
the answer please....Jim? where are you? No jaun you can't answer for him!! OK
zoom, name just one company you acted as test pilot for..Zoom? can you hear me?
OK,OK already ,no need to call a lawyer ,just prove what you wrote was true
....that's all...(Clock still ticking) .....
BEEEEEEP!!!!
Announcer : Well the time has run out and zoom couldn't prove what he wrote
was true. Sorry jaun, nice try. Sorry zoom you lose...WHAT!! your
calling the authorities ?? I should govern myself accordingly??
CAG what the heck is a CAG?? Are you nuts???.......

Hey Chuck,
Sounds like the mooz has been forgetting to medicate himself again.
Anderson, Gagne, Moser, Herendeen aren't they all dead I guess that we
can't ask them for the truth. Hoover is sorta alive and I don't know
about Britton, President Reagan is for sure dead.
Isn't this the same kind of zzzoomy bull sh*t that cost him his
medical before. I think the parts that he left out would be more
interesting. How about impersonating a Doctor, losing your medical for
being for being as one person said "Looney tunes",shot in the back
flying relief supplies in Ethiopia, shot in the leg breaking up a
rape, shrapnel wounds in the face from Viet Nam. We know that you know
the truth about what happened at My Lai of course you were the youngest
troop there I believe you were eight years old when that went down.
Crashing the AT-6 while flying the airshow at Arlington, hurt your back
again on that one and on and on...
You have absolutly no credibility. Even though most everyone knows as
a fact that you have a major screw loose you continue to spew you high
order bovine excrement. Increase the Prozac dosage and crawl back into
your fantasy world and of course take your phoney pal yawn with you.

Gee John are you saying he doesn't and he isn't?? What a shock!! What don't you

miles up ..OH WAIT that's 52,800 feet!! Wonder how many other guys have done
that ? What kind of plane got him there? Must be a record of FAA clearances
before someone exits from that height. There somewhere to check this out? Lets

Ah yes and we can't forget his "son" and the girl he met on her X country
flight and found out she died in an airplane crash. and how he landed next to
her grave in a J-3 Cub .Then upon departure he performed the best slow roll he
ever did in her honor as he flew away into the sunset. It was touching ...a lie
but touching never the less :-)

Oh yeah seems there was a letter from a service man .But I bet he wouldn't print

point to mention that it would be moderated and in "zoom speak" that means he

Maybe, maybe not. There are many definitions of "Neurosis", one of
which follows: A neurosis is an faulty thought pattern or emotional
problem caused by conflicts within the mind. Unlike psychosis, it does
not involve a greatly distorted perception of reality, or
disintegration of the personality.
Neurosis is a very broad-blanket term which covers many types of
mental health problem. The most common neurosis is Anxiety, which
itself has many subtypes (see article on Anxiety).
Depressive illness is also a disorder involving neuroses.
*** end of quote***
Given that definition, and understanding that Jim was diagnosed with a
very specific type of neurosis I tend to think of him as having a
neurosis rather than being psychotic.
On the other hand, following is a generic definition of "Psychosis":
Psychotic disorders include severe mental disorders which are
characterized by extreme impairment of a person's ability to think
clearly, respond emotionally, communicate effectively, understand
reality, and behave appropriately. Psychotic symptoms can be seen in
teenagers with a number of serious mental illnesses, such as
depression, bi-polar disorder (manic-depression), schizophrenia, and
with some forms of drug and alcohol abuse. Psychotic symptoms
interfere with a person’s daily functioning and can be quite
debilitating. Psychotic symptoms include delusions and hallucinations.
Delusion: A false, fixed, odd, or unusual belief firmly held by the
patient. The belief is not ordinarily accepted by other members of the
person’s culture or subculture. There are delusions of paranoia
(others are plotting against them), grandiose delusions (exaggerated
ideas of one's importance or identity), and somatic delusions (a
healthy person believing that he/she has a terminal illness).
***end of quote***
Paying attention to the last paragraph, it appears to accurately sum
up our subject ZZZZZZZZZ. But there are degrees of everything. He
could be severely neurotic, or mildly psychotic.
I used to wonder how crazy, crazy people were until I worked for about
a year in a mental hospital while I was in college. The people who
were in there were, for the most part, diagnosed psychotics, although
there were often people suffering from neurosis too. The difference
between how most of these people behaved and "ordinary people" was so
strikingly off kilter from the "norm" that very few lay persons would
not notice. One of the interesting aspects of the hospital was that
it was one of the first to treat alcoholics as a mental illness, they
mingled with the psychotics and neurotics freely.
Trust me, neurosis is a problem that can be as severe and debilitating
as psychosis. I met a very sweet grandmother there who's family was
wonderfully supportive and visited her often. They were equally as
nice as she was. She was one of my favorite people on the unit and I
looked for her whenever I came to work. One day she sighed and said
that she guessed she should think about getting out into the real
world. I had no idea why she was there, we weren't allowed to read
the Doctors notes, so I tried to be supportive (she was being positive
after all). She then shivered and confided that she just wished she
could get over her BIG fear. I had no idea what she was talking about
and asked what she meant. Could it be the stigma of neighbors knowing
you were in a mental hospital? No, she responded, now really
shivering, "I am afraid of being killed by the people who eliminate
the undesirables."
I was stunned, I felt like I'd just entered the Twilight Zone. I
attempted to persuade her that she was mistaken but succeeded only in
making her more upset. I left the room and did not bring the subject
up again.
She was released about a week later. Perhaps a month after that, I
was told that she had committed suicide.
She was not psychotic, she was neurotic. So neurosis can be a
powerful illness, just like psychosis. Jim's neurosis (remember Jim,
in case you are reading this, you WERE diagnosed as having a
particular neurosis, this is public knowledge) may be very powerful.

Narcissism is another of those broad-blanket terms, yet I didn't see it
here. Wonder if there's room/need for it in this discussion about Z?

Well then since we seem to agree, all that's left is to have Zoomer
examined by a qualified psychiatrist for a proper and current
diagnosis and TREATMENT.
The good doctor should of course review Chucks evidence, it's
information he would need in order to understand what's been going on
in Zoom's mind, and the lengths to which he's willing to mess with
people's lives.
Zoomer'd agree to be examined, right? Neurotics/psychotics know they
need help, right...?

In Florida we have the Baker Act where someone who is a clear danger to
himself or others can be involuntarily committed. It seems to me someone
making claims which others may take as fact, he does present himself as
an expert, can fool someone into doing something dangerous. If he
believes his lies he may try something stupid like landing an airplane
in a grave yard.
Just think of the look on zoom's face if someone could make a case and
they went to pick him up.

As I recall it was truly a place of honor, a place of distinkshun,a true throne
room, a ,a , ah Shrine!! Yeah that's it!! a folksy kind of Shrine, a place where
all came to visually pay homage to the likeness of his zoominess. Where gifts
were left in his honor, especially after the corn roast.
Where after a meal of Baked Beans and beer the sounds of salutes and cannonades
could be heard firing away in his honor from the Shrine. A veritable 21 gun
salute at times. Twas truly awe inspiring and the fragrance was unforgettable.
I'll never forget the honor guard of ILKS,standing in line at the Shrine waiting
their turn to wash away the dust of the day from the photos of zoom...Sort of a
RAH adaptation of the washing of the feet ceremony's except no buckets were used
and the water used was nice and warm...His photos were honored in a way he truly
deserved :-)Would be nice if he did show up so we could "honor" him in

The usual way zoom made it up or he awarded it to himself. ANN awarded zoom with
an award and now it's an "award winning " news source. I don't know of any
awards zoom has ever won LOL!!

Chuck,
You obviously haven't really learned to understand Zoom....
"almost 10 miles up" can be any altitude up to and including
10 miles. Why yesterday I was on the roof of my house,
almost 10 miles up...
Of course, if he had actually done the jump, that might
explain some of his actions. The lack of oxygen at over
50,000 feet would certainly have destroyed most of his
cognitive brain cells... WAIT, maybe he DID do the jump!!
I remember one time at the Arlington Airfair when he spent
the better part of an hour walking about the Fair grounds
with a parachute strapped to his back. Kind of reminded me
of a Company Christmas Party a few years ago.... the wife of
one of the employee's who worked at a rest home cleaning out
bed pans came to the party wearing a white outfit complete
with a stethoscope hanging around her neck.
You know, when you ARE someone you don't have to tell the
world about it, it's already known....

I remember you telling us about the parachute incident it's still funny.
I just e mailed an organization that would know what it takes to do a high
altitude jump .As soon as I hear from them I'll post it here
This is a site that describes what it takes to jump from 30,000 '
www.batnet.com/mfwright/30Kjumps.html
I think they removed his article from the back issues already .I tried to find
it on the ANN site and it said the article wasn't there. Hmmm wonder if it

Y'all are missing the obvious. You're assuming he's talking about
GOOD awards. Remember, there are also awards like the Darwin Award,
the Worst Dressed Award, etc.

Thanks Mark for clearing that up, you are correct that one went right
over our heads. I did however notice a telling detail in the May 24th
fantasy zzzoomy wrote. Of all the persons mentioned only Bob Hoover is
alive. With him he stood shoulder to shoulder and fought the good
fight, with all of the dead ones he flew aerobatics. I guess after
Hoover croaks we will find out that he and zoom flew many hours sharing
the controls of his Aero Commander looping rolling and spinning.
Hoover was at zooms SnF party, Chuck and I saw him there. When we went
to find zoomy to thank him for the chicken we found Hoover and zoom
together.Back behind the tent in a parking area among the vehicles
sitting on a running board of a truck was Bob Hoover. The feeling I got
was that he showed for a free dinner but didn't want to be seen in
public with zoom. How we disturbed Hoovers dinner was one of the points
he made when he wrote about it in his rag.
Yawn and zoom must have been on George W's mind, this explains why he
is so dead set against human cloning.

I guess if his checking is as good as yours then he's a dumb as you are. When it
