Advise / test notes on the CFI-G Add On Test

Folks,

I already hold a CFII for airplane and Commercial for Airplane and a Private Glider. Right now I'm only flying (and loving) gliders and don't plan on going back to airplanes. I'm a former USAF T-37 IP (any other Tweet IPs on the list, please contact me).

Ready to add on both the Glider Commercial (no written test required) and CFI-G. Already signed up for the "Written AFG Flight Instructor–Glider (Added Rating)" test..... It's just 25 questions.

I thought I might find some tailored on-line question/answer test series .... but it looks like they want to cover everything? I sort of wanted to avoid reviewing all the squiggly precip symbols for snow, rain, drizzle, hail, smoke .etc....

If anyone has taken the FAA AFG written test, any help you can give on what it covers would be welcome.

I hope you take the time to call Burt. A local pilot/cfi thought it was going to be a breeze to take the 25 question test. He was a fairly new pilot to gliders and wasn't very well versed in terminology and specifics dealing with lift sources, etc.

You don't say how long you've been flying gliders, but the short test is not necessarily easy. Nor is the practical test.

It was the only - of 10 - that I aced. One thing that is pretty convoluted, and in practice ignored everywhere I go, is the towline/weaklink strength reg.

This is the only FAA test that I ever got less than an 87 on, I ended up taking it twice. The second time I used the test prep available here, http://www.gliderpilotsgroundschool.com/gpgs-faa-exam-books.html its the only one I could find and it was very helpful though I do question one or two of their questions/answers.
