Group,

In April I offered in Yahoo's Volksplane list, for free,
a set of VP-II wings, horizontal stabilizer and rudder
that I had in storage in Redmond, Oregon when I
realized I would not be able to retrieve them for
my project.

The first person to answer was a certain Peyton
Gentry aka Sean Ross aka Lamar Sherwood
aka airwolf3117 aka coconutcowboy2002...

At the time I was not monitoring the list closely and
was not yet aware of this gentleman's reputation,
so after exchanging a few emails we agreed that:

(a) I will transfer ownership of the wings to him.

(b) He would either retrieve the wings from the self
storage or assume responsibility for the rent until
he could retrieve them.

(c) He would reimburse me for a month of rent I
had already paid in advance.

(d) He would ship to me only the rudder, after
taking possession of all the stuff

I faxed to the storage place a letter saying
I transferred ownership of the contents of
the unit to Mr. P/S/L , and he was supposed
to take it from there.

A few days ago I received a call from the lady
running the storage place. Since April,
Sean/ Peyton/Lamar has not paid the rent, has
not signed and returned the lease agreement
mailed to him, certified letters sent to him have
returned uncollected, after some initial contacts
he is not returning phone calls, etc.
It goes without saying that I never saw the rudder
or the one month rent I was due.

Since he has not signed a new lease, the
storage place has just decided I am still
the owner of the stuff, and now they are
coming after me.
Today I received a certified letter with
friendly words like "lien on your property",
"access will be denied until...", etc.
The accumulated unpaid rent is $190 (or $195?)

In short: There are 2 Volskplane-II wings and tail
feathers ready to be covered.
The price has gone up from $0.00 in April to
$195.00 today. (This is just rent past due,
not a penny for me...)
Available to anybody willing to pay that AND
immediately sign a lease with the self storage
assuming responsibility from now on.
If nobody does, the wings will be thrown
away or auctioned in about one week from today.

Disclaimer: I do not know in what condition the
wings are, how good the workmanship is, etc.
I asked if they already cut the lock and got into the unit.
They did, and I was told me that "the wings are in
very good condition". She would not be an expert,
so I interpret that as "there isn't anything obviously
rotten, bent or broken, and the wood varnish is still
shiny"

Please email to (do not
just reply to this message, I will not receive it)

Thanks,

Roberto Waltman

PS: In case somebody is going to suggest
contacting the EAA, In April I did contact a few
chapters nearby, offering the wings for free.
To my surprise nobody showed any interest.

Roberto, I hate to point out the obvious. Like many trusting, generous
souls, you've been screwed.

No one is likely to pay back rent and sign for an additional rent
obligation. Tonight, guys in that area are looking in the paper for
legal notice of the sale. They will most likely be able to buy the
parts at auction for less than the back rent.

I would suggest advertising the sale as much as you can in hopes of
the parts bringing more due to more bidders. That would lessen your
past due rent. Maybe even put an ad in the paper under the appropriate
heading. Good luck.

Somehow I had a vague suspicion that was happening ... ;-)

Yes I was expecting that, in fact somebody that was interested in the
wings in April, told me that this time he would rather take a chance
at the auction.

I was still hoping somebody would consider a $195 a small price to
pay to get a head start in a homebuilt project, and would contact me.

Fortunately, at least one such person does exist. Sorry guys, the
auction is off...
