Are you sure that the picture is not that of a water tanker fighting a fire?
Doesn't look like a fuel-fed fire to me.

This is a classic grammatical/translation ambiguity - you all read 'the
plane on fire' as implying a plane on fire, rather than what I am sure the
OP meant ' a plane on A fire'.
