Hi Gang!
Got back this evening from my trip to the northland of Ohio!!!
Waynesville, Ohio to be exact! I flew Saturday in a 46 Aeronca Champ, could
not get it for Sat and Sunday! They book them up fast!
Just grass roots flying , grass field, no radios, but a very busy
airstrip! I was real impressed. Heck here I am coming back to a grass strip
and I have to wait in the pattern to land!!! Had a Cub and a Taylorcraft
ahead of me! A Pawnee was doing sailplane tow duty,...so much activity at
such a small grass field.
So I ended up with 3 hours flying, could have done some more, but knew I
was done "mentally". Since my first taildragger experience in some very
serious winds, I found the landings were very easy. Had a couple I was not
to proud of...but I was landing it!
Go by 40I if you get the chance, they'll be glad to see you and are a
very nice group of folks! And hey, you can rent a Steerman!!! Red Stewart
Airfield is alot of fun in my book, and I look forward to flying with them
again.
On the way back home I stopped by Middlesboro, KY and checked in on
Glacier Girl. She likes being back home inbetween shows! And it was worth it
to see the old P-38 because my 19 month old said airplane for the first time
and pointed at it!!!!
So, back home now, and I am sure when I go to bed tonight I will think
of all the things I could do to make my flying better. Fine tuning it in my
head, to make it all come together the next time !!!!!!!!!
