Is anyone using the AvMap EKP-IV? I'd be interested in hearing
comments about it. I'm contemplating the possibility of panel
mounting the EKP-IV along with a Dynon EIS-D10A or a Blue Mountain
EFIS Lite. Any thoughs?

I have an AvMap-IIIC, the model prior to the IV. I removed it from its
case and have mounted it in the panel.....looks great, most pepole think
that it was factory built as a panel mount. I like the large screen, my
vision is not what it was in my 20's. That big screen makes viewing easy
for me. I only have two complaints. First is the zoom. Each touch of
the zoom button either doubles or halves the current scale. When viewing
the larger scales, each change makes a very big scale change....I wish you
could select a smaller increment of change. Second complaint is viewing
from the passenger side can be difficult, in the wrong sun light the
passenger must lean left to better read it.....but rember mine is a panel
mount, as a hand held this would not be a problem. Neither of my two
complaints would stop me from buying one. In fact I bought a second one
about a year after my first....now I have a hand held when flying planes
other than mine.
I also have a Dynon mounted in my Glasair. Reading and interpreting it
are just different enough from the old steam gauges that it took about 5-10
hours before I felt comfortable with it. Some people have complained
about the compass not being accurate. After running through the setup
procedure mine seems fine. I'm happy with my Dynon.
