If you're ever looking for a wonderful trip, this flight around the Great
Lakes is hard to beat. We were able to do the whole journey about 7.5
hours of flight time (it would take an almost unfathomable number of hours
to *drive* this trip), spread over four days, and enjoyed some of the most
marvelous dining, shops and entertainment in the country.

Hey -- I still feel guilty for kicking that guy off the bench under the
Mackinac Island Airport sign -- and then having the audacity to ask him to
take the picture, to boot!

He looked so comfy, just sitting there reading his book, too... Good thing
he had a good sense of humor...

That's a neat set of pictures! But how did you end up taxiing in that
seaplane up to the St Ignace runway........? (Ref the St Ignace Final
pix!)

Say Jay. Do you think I could land my amphib and beach or dock on the
island? Looks like a great trip. I went right by there on my trip to
Quebec in June! There are some really cool islands up in Lake Huron
too. Some with airports. Check them out.

My personal favorite photo, the "short final" shot. Now, what was that
the CFI kept saying about the runway centerline? Oh, ya, the plane
should be lined up with it. :-) Now Jay, don't try to say Mary was
flying. I'm sure she never has those issues.

Nice pictures, sounds like a great getaway for you two.

"In ten days taking this picture would be illegal!"

What will be illegal about taking aerial photos of Oshkosh?

No good place to beach as I recall - Best bet would be to call the state
marina and ask about a place to tie up / moor...

The harbor is reasonably sheltered between Mackinac and Round Islands. Watch
out for the ferrys.

Well, okay. It would only be illegal to do between roughly 1:30 and 6
PM-ish each day...

To take pictures? From the air?

Do they allow cameras at ground level?

Bingo!

I think the airspace is closed up to 16K feet, or something like that,
during the daily airshows.

Uh, sure. Why?
