My 2-year old WxWorx receiver wouldn't power up in the airplane
weekend-before-last. Investigation showed the fuse blown in the DC power
adapter. I replaced the fuse and the new one promptly blew.

I sent the receiver and the power adapter back to WxWorx for repair the
following Monday (8/22). Today it came back to me with a new DC adapter and
a note that it was a newer, improved design. No charge, freight paid.

Pretty good service. Could have been quicker, but I appreciated the free,
out-of-warranty replacement.

One week from the time you shipped it to the time you got it back. That's
damn good.

It was 10 days. And considering that the shipping was all within Alabama,
that leaves 6 days, minus 2 for the weekend = 4 days they took to turn it
around. That's not what I'd call damned good. Ok, maybe, but not damned
good.

....but I did have the ship date wrong in my original post, I notice. I
actually sent it to them on 8/15.

That is a little different than 8/22. Yeah, that's just OK turn around.

Well, it's gonna have to be soon; Gulf Coast Avionics shipped my Garmin 396
yesterday, so I'll be switching my XM subscription pretty quickly.

Another problem: I ruptured a tendon in my left foot Monday, and I'm
grounded. I may be grounded for as long as two months if they have to fix it
surgically.
