Hello,
Who made scimitar prop today?
Whitch gain may I expect for a cruise prop vs a standard wood prop?
Any urls?
Thanks

Anybody ever try to make a propeller out of a mobius strip?

If it worked wouldn't the plane just disappear inside itself??

No, I think it would ground loop, then ground loop again, then ground
loop again...

I did that once, but I could never get out of the traffic pattern.

By golly. Never thought of that! Call NASA now!

Scimitar props aka almost constant speed props.
Hartzell makes a "scimitar". Not what most of the EAA thinks of as
scimitar.
Scimitars allowed a climb propellor to perform both roles of climb and
cruise with a lower noise gradient.
Ted Hedrickson used to make some. Most are made by the builder. As far
as URL's, none that I know of. Not to say they aren't out there, but I
didn't go looking through google. There was a Vari-EZE or Long-EZ that
had one on it. Dan Diehl also was involved with some research.

Well, there's a lot of arguments against them -- but they're all one
sided.

I thought that I actually read about something from NASA. In a Tech Brief
article if I'm not mistaken. It would have been about 10 years ago or more.
If you are really bored, make a mobius strip out of plastic, bring two sides
together across a diameter and use the center for the attachment point.
Connect it to a motor and you have a pretty darn good fan.
