Garmin 296/MapSource

I am having a problem with the MapSource software, I want to be able to save
all of my routes on my PC, but I keep getting an error message. I know it is
communicating, the tracking feature follows along with the simulator, and
the GPS appears in teh wondow when you tell it to transfer. Any tips?

I got it working. Just needed to get it updated, was ver. 2.0 on the disk
that came with the unit, went to the Garmin site and found update program to
ver. 6.8.0, downloads fine now. I couldn't find anything on Garmin's site
last night for some reason, but at work today found it and burned a CD.
