The website indicates that the November 2005 issue is the last. Anyone know
the details? Were they bought by Plane & Pilot (website redirects you to
theirs)? If so, I hope the quality of P&Ps articles improve from the current
glorified survey articles. I thought Private Pilot's articles really
captured the owner/pilot perspective in their detail.
For people that subscribe to both, I guess we're out the rest of our
subsciption.

Ask them to extend your subscription to the surviving magazine.

As soon as I saw that blowhard's name as editor, I knew it was all but over
for Private Pilot. They were scraping the bottom of the barrel at that
point.
Don't know if Norm should get the credit for sinking the mag, though. He was
probably there because things were already bad financially and they could get
him cheap.

Interesting. I used to subscribe to both mags, but jettisoned "Plane &
Pilot" a few years back because of the crappy quality of their writing.
Now, just a few months ago, I happened to pick up a P & P at the local book
store, and was stunned to see how *good* it had become. I actually bought
it (at newsstand prices, no less!), and was considering switching from
Private Pilot back to Plane & Pilot.
Guess they made my decision for me...
;-)
It's a shame, though. Just another indication of our G.A. continues to
shrivel...

>Private Pilot has always been a lousy operation from the days it was
run by Fancy Press. I was so incensed by their attitude that it's one
of the few magazines I actively cancelled my subscription on.
