For those of you intimately familiar with this engine (in this case in a
'68 Mooney), what are the "gotchas"? I am looking at an aircraft where
the engine is about 2940 hrs since factory zero time remanufacture and
990 hrs SMOH done in 1989. Oil consumption normal at about 5hrs/qt and
compressions 76,76,75,77. Any advice on the specific things that might
snap back and bite me, including ADs, would be most appreciated.

A Lycoming majored in 1989 will probably have spalling on the #1 or #2
cam lobes and tappets, as that is where water tends to condense.
