I've got to say that I'd be delighted to move if it meant I didn't have to sit
next to an unaccompanied child. Why would you expose yourself unnecessarily to
bad behavior and/or accusations of some sort of misbehavior on your own part?
Avoid it all... sit somewhere else.

"Airlines are temporary guardians of unaccompanied minors so we
have preferred seating for them."
Ms Paul said Air New Zealand tried to seat children near a crew
area so crew could keep an eye on them and, when possible,
children were seated next to an empty seat.
"Sometimes this isn't possible, so the preference is to seat a
female passenger next door to an unaccompanied minor."
When the Herald asked her if the airline considered male
passengers to be dangerous to children, Ms Paul replied: "That's
not what I said."
Perhaps the Air New Zealand policy concerning male passengers was an
attempt to shield ANZ from accusations of discrimination against
Catholic priests. :-)

Yeah I thought of that.
It was the airlines problem as they booked the pax into that seat and
put the kid next to them...
Some-one suggested packing crates in the unpressurised cargo to solve
the problem

Your argument is sensible, but I'd still prefer the flight attendant observe
misbehavior before asking the man to move. Misbehavior is most definitely
not limited to men:

On Dec. 5 the teen's former teacher, 25-year-old Debra Lafave, was
to present her case to a jury, using an insanity defense to fight
two charges that she sexually battered him.
One can only assume ANZ's management wouldn't consider Debra Lafave's
actions a crime. After all, the article alleges that all she did was:
Prosecutors said Lafave had oral sex with the 14-year-old in her
Riverview town house, then had intercourse with him in the
portable classroom where she taught English at Greco Middle
School.
During a trip to Ocala, they engaged in sex in the back of a sport
utility vehicle, investigative records say.

The inuendo is that all males flying on Air New Zealand and Qantas are
kiddie fiddlers.
They should have dragged a female out of the $10,000 seat to sit with
the kid in cattle class?
I agree...

That's because the flight attendent doesn't pass out sheep to the male
passengers.
