Looks like perfect conditions for a flight along the Front Range west of
Denver today.

Not!

This is all because I've been waiting for a chance to get night current.

Look at the bright side: find a east-west runway and consider how short your
takeoff roll is gonna be.

When I was going to school in Boulder (a long time ago), we'd have called
that a breeze. We didn't label it windy until the gusts were pushing 100
kts.

Those winds are the Colorado equivalent of California's Santa Ana winds.
They're really nasty in the canyons and right along the foothills.
