All those people being assassinated over there is just shameful, they
don't mention that they were killed on the domestic airline. I get
emails all the time offering me millions of dollars of unclaimed money
in banks or just today I won the Dutch Lottery for the 15th time, all in
emails traced back to Nigeria...
Hey, whatcha got left in the Bluetooth aviation department?

You'd be surprised how many Nigerians are in the power position in DC
Government.

Most of my are from Nigeria. Basically, I 'grew' up there. I still travel
there every year (of course, by European airlines). I can give you a quick
insight on local airlines. I definitely praise Tito for speaking out. It
makes me sad that most common people in Nigeria cannot see the how dangerous
the aviation industry is. My step mother was killed in accident 5 years ago.
My father got lucky when he missed a flight because that flight crashed
shortly after takeoff. Actually, he got lucky twice! I can't remember what
happened to the other flight. I have been on a flight where the pilot
actually got lost. I could tell you few more stories, but I am not going
there. Now, you can see how bad the industry is.

That's because you probably bought a ticket. In the U.S., all the people who
win foreign lotteries never buy any tickets. It's amazing!

Well theres getting a winning notice and then theres actually winning
something of value. I guess if I'd actually entered a lottery there
might be a bit of excitement upon seeing the notice...

Dan
Nigeria is not alone in the regards of iffy maintenance. We even have
it here in the USA to a lesser degree. Haing flown in many countries,
I've seen some superb maintanance and some that was non-existent except
in the paperwork. No different here!?
Unfortunately, Nigeria is one of the worst and one of the most corrupt
countries in the world. Perhaps Zimbabwe is pushing for the title
against others in Africa and Europe and So America.
As I have seen it, pilot performance is questionable in many countries
that are regarded as "third world". Many of them are not capable of
opening the gate to the ramp let alone fly an airplane safely. And, I
have flown or trained some who were superlative but they are certainly
in the minority. I had a class of pilots from Nigeria, and Niger who
were not impressive overall. Of the class of 8, there were 2 who I
would classify as pilots after training. Yet they will return to their
homes and be classified as qualified Captains for whatever they end up
flying. It is no wonder the fatal acident rate is so high.
