Morning all. Is someone able to point me in the right direction to find the
legislation/Acts/Regulations etc in relation to de-certifying aircraft in
canada, to experimental status so mods can be done. Seems like a good and
logical idea.
Many thanks in advance.

Here it is:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/RegServ/Affairs/cars/Part5/Standards/507s.htm
Eligible aircraft are in APpendix H of that section.
It's not to "experimental" status, but to "Owner-Maintenance" status.
The U.S. has nothing like it. Their homebuilts are registered as
"experimental," and in Canada homebuilts are in the "Amateur-built"
category. The Owner-Maintenance category allows a lot of latitude for
the owner, similar to the Amateur-built, but that airplane cannot be
flown in the U.S.

From an australian perspective the canadians are the only country in
the world to *competently* regulate for private ownership of aircraft.
were australia to adopt their legislative style they would be the
third (I think) country to get this neglected area of legislation
right.
(the south africans have something similar I think though I've never
seen the actual legislation. merely anecdotal first hand commentary on
the benefits it has achieved )
the canadian texts are all available on line.
