Quest! xc from Active Flight Systems

Hi Guys ............At long last we can get hold of the long awaited
Quest! xc from Active Flight Systems. A few pilots have already been
flying with it:

"I think the Quest! xc is the best instrument for PPG I have seen so

OK, the guy didn't grovel properly, but his choice of newsgroups isn't
that bad. Why be so rude to a company that could potentially supply us
with useful devices? This is actually a very interesting instrument
useful on powered sport aircraft, including hang gliders. I wish I had
something like this for my motorglider, and for only US$900. The Ilec
controller I have does the basics, but this unit has a lot of features,
such as engine history, I'd like to have. If I were building a
motorglider, I'd consider it. Since it's software driven and has a
flexible sensor package, it looks widely adaptable.

It was a very spammy sort of post. I especially hate the "Hey old
buddy, I got something really great to show you." type of pitch,
regardless of the source/product.

I'm perfectly amenable to "You don't know me, but I'm selling xyz. If

The guy selling the velcro pants that W&W now sells used this approach

The instrument guy just struck me as a stereo salesman.

RAS is an international newsgroup, but maybe the guy got fooled and
thought it was American, then made a bad try at "talking American". Or
maybe the hangliding/paragliding groups aren't wound so tight, and the
"spammy" post was right on target. Or maybe he just doesn't know how to
present himself in text - it's not everyone's medium.

It took me less than a minute on their website to decide it was a very
interesting product of potential value to sailplanes. So, I'd say there
was "real meat" at the other end of the "spam".

He named names, and if you are a paragliding/hangliding Brit, those
likely have real weight.

I suggest that a one-time spam for a potentially useful product deserves
a private email that cordially suggests a better way to attract our
interest. It's not like this outfit is trying to scam you from Nigeria.

Too late (for me anyway). I didn't say I'd attack him every time he
posts. Sometimes when I hear something annoying on the radio, usually
an ad or a politician, or worse an ad for a politician, I wish I could
travel across the airwaves and give them a piece of my mind. I can do
that on usenet. How cool is that?
