View Full Version : $100 hamburger: BFF Scottsbluff, Nebraska!
December 15th 05, 03:39 PM
There is a new building, and expanded resturant at Scottsbluff,
Nebraska (BFF).
They built a beautiful new terminal building and expanded the
resturant at the same time. Good food, lots of it, and reasonably
priced.
Best regards,

Put it on the $$100hamburger website so they can charge you to read your own
PIREP.

Now there's a great idea! We could start a $100 hamburger database on
Usenet.
All we'd have to do is post our PIREPs under the '$100 hamburger'
subject line, and they would all be searchable with Google's DejaVu
search engine: http://groups.google.com/advanced_search
See:
http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q=&num=10&scoring=r&hl=en&as_epq=%24100+hamburger&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_ugroup=rec.aviation.piloting&as_usubject=&as_uauthors=&lr=&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=1981&as_maxd=15&as_maxm=12&as_maxy=2005&safe=off
Of course it would help if we established a consistent format. How
about this for a start:
Location: <airport identifier>
City:
State:
Restaurant name:
Rating: (* to ***** stars)
Pricing:
Best menu choice:
Features:
Comments:
This could even be internationalized if there were demand.

Since a lot of us don't have every airport in the country's ID memorized,
how about this modification?

Sure. Whatever you feel will be the most useful.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have to create a user account and
password to post/read there don't you? As most ISPs offer Usenet as
part of their service, that wouldn't be necessary for most users, and
there's no registration requirement to read Google-Groups. But, I'm
agreeable with whatever the groups decides.

It's a vehicle...I've posted the first entry on the site. Format free,
though... I did include a link to the site's web site.
Cheers,
Leonard

Here's an entry for the Usenet $100 Hamburger database:
Location: Santa Barbara, California (KSBA)
Airport Name: Santa Barbara Municipal Airport
AirNav Link: http://www.airnav.com/airport/KSBA
City: Santa Barbara
State: California
Restaurant Name: Beachside Bar & Café
Address: 5905 Sandspit Rd., Goleta, CA 93117
Phone: 805-964-7881
Food: **** (* to ***** stars)
Service: *** (* to ***** stars)
Ambiance *****: (* to ***** stars)
Rating: **** (* to ***** stars)
Pricing: ~$10.00
Best Menu Choice: Fresh grilled Halibut
Features: The patio overlooks the Pacific breakers. Great food!
Comments: Park at Mercury Air Center (UNICOM 122.95;
Ph:805.964.6733) (not Signature because you'll
have to walk twice as far), and walk the bike-trail
south across the estuary. You'll see the restaurant at
the foot of the pier. Get a table on the patio, and
you'll often spy dolphin frolicking. I can't rave
enough about the cuisine; it's first rate, if not
5-star. Leave room for a cream brulée and cappuccino.

$100 Hamburger Database:
It is possible for anyone with an Internet browser to access the
_entire_ Usenet archive from January 1, 1981 to present (without the
necessity of creating an account or registering) at this link:
http://groups.google.com/advanced_search
Just put '$100 Hamburger' in the 'exact phrase' field, and
'rec.aviation.piloting' in the 'Group' field, and click the 'Google
Search' button.

I didn't.
This is a great site. It's graphical and zoom-able.
I can pull it up next to a weather site and see my options without having to
play hunt and peck with "Where the heck is that airport?" that I do on
other, nameless "pay" sites.....

I missed Larry's original post above but, no you don't have to register. As
a matter of fact it is really better if you don't register then you can put
the name of the restaurant or whatever in as the name of the spot to be
mapped.
As I mentioned earlier if there is anyone out there who'd like to help
manage the map e-mail me and I'll give you the admin password.
