View Full Version : The Lycoming is time-proven

It's time-proven to be a ridiculously expensive, inefficient, loud, and
generally nasty beast of mediocre reliability. I hope Textron loses
money on each one and finally shutters the 652 Oliver St. building
quietly and without fanfare one day. Certificated aircraft owners will
be looking at turbines then. Since only the wealthy can afford them
anymore and since the gap between them and avarage Americans is growing
so widely, they will be able to write a check and not flinch.
Canada will get a windfall since that is where the P&WC PT-6 is
produced. Each one costs about twenty grand to build and they retail
for around half a million each.

Someone subscribed him to the troll of the week club for Christmas. Every
day, he waits by his mailbox all twittery and fidgeting, hoping that the
mailman will deliver this week's gem for him to bring to the world of
aviation. Obviously, today was the day...

Thanks KB.
I seriously doubted there was that much markup in turbines.
If there was, there would be MANY more manufacturers making & selling them.

test stand."
I think your off by about 59 minutes... I see where you have it
corrected further down though...
Seems like the engine would have spun in cirles on that test stand...
The "Skater 30 prototype" looks really nice...
I don't think your "Cobra Terminator" outdrive can support 1400hp at the
outputted rpms of your engine... Oops looks like you figured that out,
with the search for a surface piercer...
