Check out Ebay item #4602107082

Also his website at www.skywalkerjets.com

This guy's trying to sell the rights to name it for
$0.5 Million!

Unfortunately, he's serious...

He's planning to fly it tomorrow. Claimed he couldn't
fly today because of low temeratures. Shouldn't be
a problem. I started my jets in the hangar tonight
at 30 degrees (and 6200' elevation) with no problems.
Same engine.

It looks like scam....

I wouldn't buy it unless I could get a helmet like Flash Gordon flew
with. Ming, your history, now that we have the jet pack!

He wants 200 Thousand for one of these. Seems
like a Jet Caproni would be a better buy.

Anyone with even a basic understanding of engineering
could see the advantage of using multiple jet engines.
Aside from the risk of pinwheeling if an engine failure
should occur its the advantage of numbers. I'm sure
he has done his home work on the chance of engine failure
and after all they are used for model planes.

Basic understanding of engineering?

C'mon Gary, I was just being a little sarcastic
and meant a glider would be a better buy.

Don't take yourself so seriously.

Check out the pilot "uniform". I wonder if the slippers he's wearing
will blow off during flight! :)

I know for a fact it is real. The 'buy the naming
rights for $0.5 million' part definitely gives the
whole project a certain 'snake oil' feel, but these
are real engines, and he's convinced he can fly it.

I ran some quick calculations on it. He's about 80%
on the right track. That leaves him only 20% dead
when he crashes.

Actually, he'll probably never get it throttled up
enough to crash bad before it tips him forward off
his feet.

Gotta' give him credit for trying, though. He's got
about $50K tied up in this. With a fair amount of
tweaking, it can work.

The jettisonable slippers keep them from melting to
his feet from the hot exhaust ;o)

Willie my post had absolutely nothing to do with your
comments.
Sorry it seemed that way!

Well, it certainly qualifies as a self launcher.

I don't have a half-million lying around, but I'll take
a shot at naming this thing, how about "Deathtrap"

With the added weight of eight engines, the harness
and fuel, just how large of a parachute would he need?

Also, curious how high he can get before fuel runs
out?

Might be cheaper to buy an old surplus ejection
seat...

; )
