View Full Version : Need help identifying plane in photo
January 12th 06, 08:36 PM
I took a photo of a United Airlines plane in Detroit in March 2004.
I'm wondering whether it is a Boeing 737 or Airbus 319 or 320?
You can see it here. http://www.ackle.com/ebayualphotos.htm
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see it.
Any help with this is appreciated. I sell some United items on eBay
and I want to sell the photo, but don't know what it is.
Thanks.

737.

Coffee is only a way of stealing time that should by rights belong to
your slightly older self.

Sure looks like a 737 to me. The squashed looking engine cowls are
the giveaway. It's a pity the N-number isn't quite readable in the
photo.

It's N376UA.
To the original poster - I'm not sure you're going to have much luck
selling the photo. For example, here's a whole page of photos of the
exact same aircraft.

Yes, it's N376UA. Thanks for the link to that other site. Can't
believe how many shots there are of the same plane.
Thanks, everyone.

Matter of taste, I suppose. I think they're one of the nicest looking
medium-size airliners.

There's no way you can mistake that classic early Boeing nose for anything
else!

You never know. I once saw a bidder pay more for a used photographic ball head
than a brand new one cost.

Yup. eBay is wonderful for sellers, as it gives you access to the
least-common-denominator, when it comes to buyer intelligence. Even one
dumb buyer can push your sell price up to the reasonable maximum market
value, and with two you can go well past that mark. A million other smart
buyers looking at your product are helpless to prevent that from happening.
And as anyone who participates on Usenet knows, finding two dumb people just
isn't that hard. :)

It's finding two dumb people that want what you're selling that's hard.

I dunno about that. Depends on how dumb they are. :)
In any case, if you're gonna find those two dumb people, eBay is the best
place to do it.

Pete,
If you really thought that was true, you'd be rich off of eBay and
flying (rather than typing USNET posts). There are some dumb people out
there but I certainly wouldn't say you can make a butt load of money
selling crap on eBay. If that were true, we'd all be retired.

You presume to know what I "really" think is true or not?
Funny guy.
In any case, your "logic" is plenty full of holes.

Every time I go looking for something on eBay, the dumb people have bid the
item up over what I can easily get the item for locally in the classifieds.
Just because I choose to spend my time doing other things, rather than
taking advantage of the dumb people, that does not mean I don't really
believe there are dumb people bidding things up on eBay.
In any case, please note that flying and typing posts for Usenet are not
mutually exclusive. One can have a life that includes both, and even need
not depend on eBay to support such a life.
By the way, there ARE plenty of people getting rich off of eBay.
But thank you SO very much for your, *ahem*...insightful comments.
