View Full Version : FRAUD BUYING GLIDERS ........# 711 reporting

January 23rd 06, 11:43 PM
A friend, who is selling his glider, just received a casher's check,
in the mail, from a guy who had never even called him. The guy then
called him and said he was sending someone over to pick it up, and my
friend could pay the guy who is picking it up the extra money. This
just happened, and the casher's check looks real. What Wings and Wheels
has posted on their site is very real, and everyone needs to watch out.
Spring time is a short ways away, and its the time gliders move most.
So, spread the word to your friends, and don't let this kinda scam
happen to someone you know. He sent me a photo of the casher's check,
it looks very real, and his bank said they would deposit it to his
account and put a 5 day hold on it. If it didn't clear, they then would
recover the deposit. So heads up, even if the check is for a few
thousand more, don't go their........Thermal tight, Soar high, Fly
safe. # 711 reporting.

five days is not enough

typically these take two weeks at least, as there are usually multiple
copies floating out there

have the pickup man met by the feds, since this is probably a large
enough amount to interest them

I would recommend using a "wire transfer". It doesn't cost much and
any bank will know how to do it. The funds from the buyer's bank, if
there really are funds, will be transferred and validated in one
business day or less. You don't need to know much. Your bank will
tell you how to do it. It's easy, secure, and fast.

It's also good to use if you are the buyer. Your seller is immediately
assured that he has the funds, so there is no delay in picking up your
new purchase.
