Start on gentle slopes before you jump off a cliff. Wear a
helmet, gloves and boots. A strong jump suit will help
protect your skin and wear eye protection. Find some people
who are hang gliding in your area and offer to help them
climb back up the hill with their equipment. Ask them about
how they learned.

BTW, I have a HG and harness with a chest chute that I don't have time
for anymore. Come take a look and make me an offer.

Yeah. Sure, you can add "RAH", flyingmonk. But, It'd be much more
useful if you took the trouble to say what the hell "RAH" is, for those
of us "uninitiated".

He did. Take a look at the URL he included, right after writing "may I add
RAH".

Always take off and land into the wind. Learn about rotor, and don't fly in it, ever. Watch your airspeed, stalling near the ground is very bad. Find out about target fixation. Learn in the early morning, or late afternoon, when thermals are least, and the air is smooth.

I've done some hanggliding. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone learn
on their own. The hand gliding associations have their own "ratings"
and "certifications" including instructors. They instructor will run
down the hill with you and make sure you know how to control it. Taking
off by yourself the first time would be like jumping in a Cessna 150 by
yourself.

Are we (by saying we, I mean you) a little slow today? :^)
