Our club has a Grob 103 Twin Astir which will require the elevator control
horn to be replaced per the recent AD. We're looking for a shop to do both
the mechanical work and the composite work. We've found a couple of shops in
northern California, but are looking for someone closer to home just to make
the transport easier. Can anyone direct us to some repair companies in
southern California or Arizona?

Thanks.

There's a guy named Robie Grove at Gillespie Field (near San Diego)
who sometimes does composite/mechanical work on gliders.

Also, have you tried Caracole and Crystal? they have a mechanic
there... but I don't know about an A.I.

There are currently no shops in Arizona - folks from the Phoenix area
usually end up going to our nearest outfit in New Mexico.

Sorry!

Caracole doesn't do composite repairs and the shop at California City that
did is gone. Bill Prokes (Tile, Signs and Graphics in Tempe, AZ, (480)
967-6029) does first-class work but is also far away. Most repair work from
Cal City goes to Williams or Minden.

By the way, there is another composite repair shop in Northern
California, Yankee Composites in Lakeport, CA:

If you don't have glass work there's a good chance that Jeremy at Turf
Soaring can do it. He's the A&P who does the glider maintenance for the
commercial operation there. You may want to give Turf a call.

I believe glass work is required to bond the replacement control arm into
the elevator
