View Full Version : Wooden Sailplane durability in humid climates

March 13th 06, 10:40 PM
Like many others, I am on the hunt for my first sailplane. One cannot
help but notice the performance value of the classic wood and
wood/fabric sailplanes such as the Ka-6, and SHK-1 Austria series among
others. Living in Florida where the humidity often rivals the high
temperatures during much of the year, I've been warned away from these
sailplanes due to the potential for deterioration of the glue joints
and de-lamination. Can anyone shed any light on this subject? RR
