ATSB to probe fatal kit plane crashes
special federal investigation into two fatal crashes involving kit planes
could result in tighter regulations for self-built aircraft, authorities
say.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), which normally confines its
investigations to passenger aircraft, will look into the crashes of the two
kit planes, which happened just six days apart.
Ron Bertram, president of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association
(AOPA), was killed on Wednesday as he tested a Lancair 360 kit plane at
Sydney's Bankstown Airport.
And last Friday, the male pilot of a Lancair 320 kit plane died when it
ploughed into trees and landed in waist-deep water in a gully in suburban
Brisbane.

Sad, but its a risk he willingly accepted.... I wonder if American AOPA
will have some sort of tribute. Full coverage (irony if you look at the
last article on the link).

That would be more of EAA's opinion than USA AOPA.
You need to learn what each organization does.

I do know.
He was flying an experimental plane. He was president of Aussie AOPA.
So u think only the EAA should comment?? OK. I'm still wondering whether
The Destroyer will make some dumb, self-serving comment.

The "Destroyer" just did -- in the previous posting!

Still no mention from Phil, which probably means they will not comment
publicly. They only report news favorable to GA, real or manufactured.
Just more propaganda and other anti-social rants, as usual. And zero
mention of these two prominent crashes by people on the way to Sun N Fun:
Two Sport Planes Crash En Route To Sun 'n Fun
Two LSAs were missing from show exhibits due to accidents that occurred
as they were heading to Lakeland. Aviation writer Dan Johnson, who has
been working with EAA on the Sport Pilot Tour, was taking off in a CZAW
Parrot from Palm City, Fla., on April 2 when engine trouble developed.
.....
In Walhalla, S.C., on April 2, Just Aircraft co-owner Gary Schmitt also
had problems on takeoff and was unable to make a safe landing. Schmitt was
flying a Highlander, which was just approved the week before as an S-LSA.
The aircraft was destroyed and Schmitt was seriously hurt. No further
details were available at our deadline.

Boyer is the Destroyer. And he just made the most self-serving comment
possible. He posts a quote about HIMSELF: "You are doing a great job,"
someone said.
Awesome.

I am sure that we can count on "Skyloon" to report anything negative
about GA -- hence the name "the Destroyer".

Hmmm: "Skylune the Destroyer?"
Nah. There is no ZING to it... ;-)
Listen, my job is a difficult one, but it is important for someone to head
up the AOPA Truth Squad.
It is very odd that there would be no mention of the death of the
Australian AOPA president (in an experimental) from his American
counterpart, who finds time to quote someone who says "You are doing a
great job." (Probably because he hasn't wrecked and the tax subsidies are
still pouring in, for now.)
Plus, no mention of the TWO missing exhibits at Fun N Sun-- two more
experimental crashes.
I can be convinced to use another nickname for the Destroyer. Something
along the lines of Baghdad Bob, you know, the old Iraqi Information
Minister.

I guess that is something like the "9/11 Truth Movement"?

What is worse (I think) is that he (skyloon) is either too stupid, or too
lazy to add a layer of >'s to the post before his post.
But, consider the source, and take it for what it is worth. In his case,
less than nothing.

They weren't experimentals.

Of course you wouldn't understand. Listen to Boyer for the truth, and
enjoy the user fees.

;-). I actually tried to register my original nom de guerre on Yahoo as
Skiloon, but that name was taken, so I went with Skilune. Skylune is a
variant of that for my aviation rants.
(Skilune can be found on Yahoo chess on some evenings, although my rating
has deteriorated due to distractions from small plane noise... ;-) )
