Which is better Brass or Stainless Steel?

I consider brass more for 'shear wire' applications.
Stainless steel safety wire offers good corrosion resistance and I'd use it
wherever a fastener must not vibrate loose.

SS is used for safetying nuts and the like. Thin brass wire is used
for items such as BRS chute handles (and WEP gates ;-D), to prevent
accidentally activating the control. If you need to, though, you can
pop the wire.

Brass wire is also used for safetying very small hardware. Also if
you intend to safety anything near a magnetic compass use the brass
wire. Some stainless is magnetic.
