Dear Friends,

You may find these Air Transport Pilot (ATP) airman
credentials interesting.

These ATP airman credentials shew
glider rating only
with no airplane ratings. Can you explain this?

Can you do same?

Can it be done now without Airplane rating ?
How ? Or, do you think these airmen may have surrendered
certain of their ratings. Now, instrument rating
presumes airplane or helicopter ratings, and ATP certificate
presumes instrument rating.

Do you think these credentials preceded current standards
?

What are your suppositions or what does your knowledge
provide to explain such as these listed ?

Dancing on clouds,

Keep it up!

Clearly these guys belong to a little known division of the
SSA called the " Troop Transport Glider Association"

or maybe...

They are the future pilots for the Virgin Atlantic Space gliders.
I believe Spaceship One was registered as a glider. It probably
only takes a Glider Commercial to pilot one of those.

Um,

As I understand it, an ATP is automatically qualified
to be an instructor for SEL and MEL airplanes.

That being the case, the entry Commercial Glider Privileges
only, Glider, indicates that this person is prohibited
from instructing in gliders.

NO--

An ATP does not extend instruction privileges in ASEL or AMEL. Your
CFI certificate must carry these authorizations separately. A CFI
certificate in SEL and/or MEL along with a Commercial Rating in single
and/or multi engine sea does extend instruction privileges in SES
and/or MES.

Confusing huh!!
