I've done the FITS course to instruction in the G1000 but after flying
it there are still a couple questions I have...
1) Is there anyway to get weather for an airport other than the one you
are direct to? As far as I can tell the only way to get weather is
using the "WPT" page which only shows you weather for your direct
destination
2) If you are on a flight plan, its worse because the "WPT" page shows
you your current airport. Again, it seems like you should be able to
pick any arbitrary airport and query METAR and TAFs.
3) Airport info. On other Garmin units you can move the cursor over and
airport and select menu and get airport info. I'm not seeing that on
the G1000.
4) Not a question, but again, Garmin forgot airways. Very irritating
when flying in SoCal and having airway assignments coming at you as if
from a shot gun.
5) Is there a way to just key in the identifer of an airport and pull
up info (runway info, freq, etc) as with other Garmin units? I don't
see a way to do that in the G1000 without first adding the airport to
your flight plan or changing your direct airport.

Thanks!
