Alodine POWDER?

Anyone know of a source? Why do we have to pay the shipping for a
bunch of water for AS&S?

Because without the water it becomes a much greater hazmat shipping
expense (oxidant?). The only out that I see is if a local plating or
coating shop will sell you 1/2 pound in a ziploc bag. As manufactured,
it's ordinarily only available in packages of some pounds. It only
takes an ounce or two to make a gallon of solution. Cautions: Nitrile
gloves (not latex), long sleeves, don't breathe the dust & thoroughly
flush any spilled powder from clothing, etc.

It is very definitely available.

I'll ask a friend who is building an RV-8A and swears by the stuff; but you
will almost certainly have a shipping surcharge as hazardous mateial, so you
might try to put together a group purchase unless a local vendor has it in
stock.

BTW, from what I've seen, alodine may be one more thing that appears to me
to add more time to the building process than is justified, unless you are
building a seaplane. Just my $0.02, but I will ask and post the response in
this thread.

Well, the best I can do at the moment is that Alodine or Iridite may be
available in powdered form from a large plating or metal finishing supply
company, and some large automotive painting suppliers may also carry it.
