I am looking into purchasing a high wing STOL 701 kit. From what I
have been able to gather I should be able to easily get in and out of
my little postage stamp sized property with this aircraft. Looking for
opinion on this, I have a 300 X 600 foot long strip with obstructions
on the end of the 600 foot run. However, the 300 foot which crosses
the 600 foot run at 180 degrees has plenty of clear area before and
after it
Here are some photographs of the 300 east-west run and the 600 foot
north-south length. The place is a mess with debris from some of the
brush I knocked down just before the winter thaw this year and will
be completely cleaned up and smoothed out with a dozer later.

(Above) Looking west at the trees which need to come out to clear the
easterly departure direction for the 300 foot run. There are no wire
crossings in this path and the street goes for a long way behind me
in this photo. The easterly departure route (towards me in this
photo) would center strait down the middle of this road. According to
one CH 701 pilot, by the time I would come out of this field and over
the stop sign at the T of this road I should be well over 100-200
feet high and not a factor for road traffic.

(Above) Looking west at the southeast corner of my property. The
little brown building seen and the end of the fence line is a 8 ft
tall pump house at the edge of my property. The field continues
beyond it for another 300 feet of clear area.

Looking west at the edge of my 300 foot run. I believe the church who
owns this property will let me take these ugly shrubs out for an
unobstructed approach from the west.

(Above) A view of the southerly 600 foot run which has an upward
slope. The long brown building seen in the distance has a power cable
about 15 feet high crossing the open end of this run. The hill shown
in the last photo posted here is behind the camera view.

about 15 feet high crossing from left to right between the building on
the left and a short power pole on the right which is out of field.

Here is a cross direction photo of the 600 foot run looking west
across the north end of my property (other side of the road on the
left) which shows the hill to the right. The tall Cottenwood trees on
the left side of the road going up the hill are mine and can all come
down but the trees on the right side of the road must remain.
I could take all of the trees down on this end of my lot and use it
for the west and east 300 foot run but then I would be close to my
neighbor seen here on the right and believe they would appreciate if
I kept my flights in and out away from them.
