66 attempted a flight from the contest site of Caesar
Creek, Ohio, USA back to his home field near St. Louis,
Missouri, USA, a flight of about 250 miles.

The report is at:

and his flight is on OLC.

Kirk, why does the red 'noise' band show up on the
OLC posting?

Also, it looks like you made a very nice flight!

Ray, I'm not sure. It doesn't always appear, and the logger (an
IGC-approved Themi) does not have a noise sensor, as far as I know.
I've been planning to contact the manufacturer about it when I get a
chance.

My gut feeling is that there is some extraneous noise being recorded
somehow on the .igc file. But that is a total WAG.

It doesn't seem to affect OLC or race scoring, though - fortunately!

The flight home was fun - and pretty much ended where I expected, based
on the forecast. It should really be easier to go the full distance
(just over 500k) the other way (I'd been looking at that previously)
and will definitely be a possibility the next time I go to CCSC,
conditions permitting!

Cheers,

66
