There's been a C335 based at KSTE, Stevens Point, WI for several weeks.
Their mission is to take overhead pictures for the Department of
Agriculture. Punch N918AA into www.flightaware and check out some of the
interesting flight tracks and altitudes.

What is that little loop in today's flight?

I really have no idea. I haven't talked to the pilots.

If you look at the track log, from 11:15AM to 11:18AM, the latitude does not
change. I think that was where he did his loop. When he comes out of that,
the latitude is different, by a few hundredths.

In short, he was not zeroed in on his desired course to start his picture
run, so he had to get lined up, and maybe climb some more and get his speed
up.

That's my "guess" anyway.

I stopped at the terminal building today, both the C335 and the C402 where
coming in to refuel.
Each had a crew of 2.
1 guy grabs the lineman and starts refueling the first plane, then the
second.
1 guy goes on a Subway lunch run.
1 guy refills both crews 02 bottles
1 guy calls in next the expected route of each plane.
Done with refueling, done with 02, done with route call, they all eat.
When they are done with lunch they check oil, do a walk around and jump back
in the planes to head out.
Total time on the ground, less than an hour.

I was suprised how effecient they were. Each guy had his task that included
taking care of the other pilots and their aircraft. Total teamwork.

There's a pair of Aero Commanders that have been basing out of my
airport(KBMI-Central IL Regional) the past couple of days mapping
portions of IL.

Looks like they're flying at 20,000 and belong to AERO-METRIC INC
(SHEBOYGAN WI).
