John Kilbracken, wartime Swordfish pilot and author of "Bring back my
Stringbag" died yesterday.

Note the Press Association's slight over-estimate of the range
of roles the Swordfish could fill: I'm pretty sure it was never
operated as a fighter...

From reading _Stringbag_, I got the impression that flying the Swordfish was
scary fun, especially when compared to the Barra. The book is interesting as
an individual's account of his own mental breakdown. It's pretty obvious
that Godley was suffering from what is now termed an "operational stress
injury."
